It's technique day today. I thought I share a background that's easy to make. Some of you probably have seen or done it before... I am not sure what the official name for it, so I called it resist brayering.
Here is the card I made yesterday. As you can see I got my very own Papertrey stamp set. I had admired Nichole's sets for so long, but resisted the temptation up until Wednesday. I had a rough day and I just had to order something for me... so Saturday I got a box with my goodies... That was very fast... I didn't think I would get them that soon.
The card I made was inspired by this card.
I wanted to make a black silhouette card so this is a great background for it.
First I stamped the little 'firework' flowers on glossy card stock with VersaMark. Let that dry and then brayered the ink on it with my brayer. I used a spectrum pad, Kaleidacolor-Pastel, to make it really colorful. I picked this pad up at the rubber stamp show. I really like the colors... You could also sponge the colors on the glossy cards stock. Wherever the VersaMark images were, the ink didn't work, the ink resisted the colors... I would have achieved the same if I embossed the flowers with clear embossing powder. What is the difference, you may ask? I think when you just use VersaMark ink, the ink is not that resistant, you might end up with a slight hue, a hint of color. But the embossed image would resist the colors even more... But that's just my non-official answer.
So when that was done, I wiped my card with a paper towel to get rid of any extra colors. Now I was ready to stamp my images with black StazOn, which is a permanent ink that dries fast and works on nonporous surfaces. I made couple of boo-boos, so that's why the tag is covering part of the watering can, and that's why 3 of my flowers are cut out and popped up on dimensionals... I had an extra background so I was able to stamp up extra flowers and cut them out... As many of you know, Papertrey's stamps are clear acrylic and have different images that work together. So you make your own scene... I used 3 different flowers, leaves and the watering can. The stems are hand drawn. I didn't like the ones that came with the set... found them too thick... I added silver rhinestones with Crystal Effect for a bit of sparkle.
The tag was made with SU! Round Tab punch. The original tag was just too big, so I trimmed it with a craft knife. The slip for the ribbon was cut with a craft knife too. Just a little tip... I always stamp the image/greeting first, then punch it out. It's just easier this way...
I added 2 'photo corners' and done...
Size: 5 1/2 x 4 1/2

Paper/Ink: SU! Glossy White and Basic Black. Black StazOn and VersaMark ink; and Pastel spectrum pad by Kaleidacolor .
