So it's been over a week since I have started my blog, and I am loving it! It's been so much fun that I have forgotten my 1 week anniversary. And it is all because of you ladies! Thank you for visiting my blog, thank you for coming back, Thank you for signing up for e-mail updates, and thank you for sharing my blog with your friends... Mary and Allison, thank you for including my blog on your blog! You girls rock!
Check out their blogs. Mary is doing a great blog give-away, and Allison has a list of blog candies. Plus their blogs are awesome!
On an other note, it is "Tip of the Day..." so I thought I share something that you probably all know, but I just discovered it couple of weeks ago. I had my brayer for 5-6-7 years, I had not done much with it up until recently. Now I love it. I have been using it to brayer ink onto my dry embossed (with Cuttlebug plates) background paper. First I tried to wipe the ink on the paper by dragging the ink pad across, but smudged too much if I wasn't careful. So couple of weeks ago I took out my brayer, and voila... It's something really simple, and it's been used for ages...and now I am doing it too.
I used this 'technique' making my card. First I dry embossed a piece of white paper with the Textile Cuttlebug plate, using my Sizzix machine, flipped the paper over, and brayered SU! Vintage Violet ink on the (negative) back side. You do get some smudging, but it is very little, and it actually adds more texture to your card.
I also used this method on my Black & White card, and last weeks card that I posted on Saturday.
I used SU! Delight In Life and Happy Everything stamp sets, and Rose Red ink for this project. I cut out 2 stamped flowers, mounted them on top of each other on dimensionals, and added a rhinestone brad to it. This close-up picture might show it better.
Well, let me know if this little tip has helped you. I know it makes my crafting life a bit easier. :o) Thank you for looking ladies, and enjoy your weekend!
I know this post is old, but i came across you on Mel Stampz, i have seen a video where they use the brayer to put ink on the actual embossing folder and then placing the paper in the folder and then embossing, don't know if you have tried that but thought i would let you know

You just solved my problem. I've been brushing the ink pad across the embossing folder and NOT liking the result. This however, made it come out perfectly. Thanks so much!

Okay. I tried this, and it is AWESOME. I'm so glad you thought of this, and that I came across it. I posted a photo of the mini notebook that I used this on on my blog today. I've linked back to this post so others can read about it on your site. Thanks again!

Great advice! I love my embossing folders and now I have even more reasons to pull them out every time I make a card! Wait a second, maybe that isn't such a good thing. ;0)

Thanks for the great tip. I've had the same results also. Now all is well. At least I do know where my brayer is.

That's an excellent idea - I tried dragging the ink pad, too and got the same results as you - smudges. Now, where did I put that brayer.....
