So yesterday we had our first snow 'storm' and left us with no Internet until now... It's nice and still white outside but I am so glad I don't have to go out today.
Since I didn't have Internet last night, I had some extra time for stamping. I made a gift card/tea bag holder. That was the technique on SCS this Monday. It started out as a tea bag holder, but then I realized that a card would fit perfectly... and we are going to do a lot of gift cards this year... but this one I am keeping!
It took me too long to make this one. :o) Just because I kept changing the design...
So I used Hot Stuff from My Favorite Things... since originally it was for a tea bag... I wanted to use Christmas colors hence the red and green...
1. First I stamped the image on white with Graphite Black Brilliance Archival ink. Then colored it with Night Blue-B97, Strong Red-R46, and Lime Green-G21 Copic Markers. Then cut the image out.
2. Attached it to a blue (The Paper Company from Michael's) paper... and the a piece of Real Red. Did some paper-piercing on the 2 sides... Then I attached that to a piece of light green paper that I punched out with Marvy Giga scallop Square punch. using dimensionals this time. I did some more paper-piercing and put that aside while I worked on the holder itself.
3. Cut a piece of 3 3/4 x 8 1/2 Real Red paper, scored it at 2 13/16 and 5 11/16... then cut the last panel diagonally... for the pocket... I used sticky tape to make the pocket... regular tape is just not strong enough.
4. Then I did some machine stitching on the front... and added gold brads to the corners.
5. The greeting is SU! So many Sayings stamped on light green and cut down to a 6/8 wide strip.
6. Next I stamped 3 hollies (Christmas Tree Mouse by Impression Obsession), colored them with the markers, cut them out.. and mounted 2 on both sides of the greeting with dimensionals and 1 inside...
7. Finally I added some gold ribbon and attached the main image with dimensionals...
I think it looks great... and I love the idea of making little gift cards. I already started to make some... using a simple design. :o)
So hopefully I will have Internet today all day... I need to catch up with my e-mails plus it's really disturbing being cut off from the crafting world!
